COURSE GOAL/ OBJECTIVE:
The purpose of this workbook is to help the participant gain credibility
with their customers and prospects by introducing the terms, trends, and
critical success factors of the electronics industry. Within that
context, the participant should be able to describe the interactivities
among the various groups and functions involved, as well as the communi-
cation needs created by the information flow in the product developement
and manufacturing processes of an electronics manufacturer.
STUDENT PROFILE:
The principal audience for this program is SR's, TC's, and managers who
are targeted in the electronics manufacturing industry. It is expected
that most of the participants are more familiar with the engineering
side (product generation) than the manufacturing side (customer fulfill-
ment).

STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

- Identify industry segment leaders and market segment leaders in the
electronics industries and their sales strategies.
- Discuss the impact of key industry trends and their implications
within the industry.
- Describe the typical goals and strategic activities of electronics
manufacturers.
- Describe the major steps in product engineering and manufacturing
in the electronics industry.
- Describe the information flow associated with the major steps in
product engineering and manufacturing.
- Describe typical applications and systems architectures used in each
function of product engineering, manufacturing, and business
administration.
- Describe typical issues and obstacles, with implications, that each
function (engineering, manufacturing, and business applications.)
- Describe the applications' impact on information technology
architecture.
- Identify the major opportunities for HP solutions in engineering,
manufacturing, and business applications.
- Recognize metrics used to measure the engineering, manufacturing, and
